Biggest Fashion Trends of Fall/Winter 2022: Your Style Guide

In the past weeks, the autumn-winter runways have given us many reasons to look forward to slightly cooler days. From the timeless elegance of knitwear, oversized cuts, classic dresses, maxi krill, white tops and blue denim to bold leather goods, jackets and statement footwear: each trend seems to be the perfect companion for every fashionista.
The overall mood of this season’s fashion trends can be summed up in one word: nostalgia. It appears in many shapes and colors and symbolizes the excitement that has accompanied our everyday life before the pandemic period. Whatever you associate with happier, simpler times has certainly carried over to the catwalks of New York, London, Milan and Paris, which yearn for the carefreeness of yesterday.
Here’s a shopping guide to the fall 2022 trends you can wear this season, accompanied by our favorite fashion influencers.
1. Baggy Denim
If you were born three or four decades ago, they were your favorite companion: we are, of course, talking about baggy jeans, which slowly but surely displaced skinny models. Pair them with a slouchy top, oversized jacket, sneakers and a larger bag for a catwalk look (not to mention the comfort!). P.S. Knee braces are still in trend! Which would you choose?

2. The Hot Pink
Another throwback to the past represents the “hot pink” trend, which was the focal point of the autumn catwalks. The Valentino fashion house also served one of these, which instantly drove the internet and social networks crazy with its collection: short dresses and mini-skirts, jackets and platform sandals in this lively shade are a guarantee for a smile that will not be erased from your face not even by low temperatures, raindrops or snow. Be bold!

3. Heavy-Weight Leather Jackets
Although the ever-present leather has both its supporters and detractors, none of them remained indifferent when watching the Oscar della Renta fashion show last season: the collection left its mark with a wide range of perfect leather silhouettes of various shapes, colors and lengths, while we were particularly impressed by the short pink trench coat with matching skirt and boots. At the same time, we must not forget on Khaite, which also dazzled with its range of bombers, short and long jackets, trench coats and other outerwear. With many strong options from which to choose, this is going to be a highly considered investment purchase for the season ahead.

4. Tank Tops
How wonderful is it that our favorite piece is considered a trend this fall? Tank tops with wide straps have returned to the catwalks, which is the perfect complement to the variety of baggy jeans we already talked about. We were particularly impressed by the white tanks from Prada, Loewe and Off-White, which sold out in just a few minutes. Have you got yours yet?

5. Boardroom Minis
This season, most fashion designers have focused a lot of their attention on tailoring, and mini-skirts are no exception. With or without pleats, they are an indispensable piece for an oversized jacket, high or low leather shoes and high socks, as proven by many fashionistas:

6. Long Silhouettes
Elegant long dresses, maxi skirts, long tailored trousers, long coats and other pieces in the autumn and winter collections reminded us of the timeless elegance of long silhouettes that has no substitute in any season. They can easily be given a slightly trendier touch with an oversized blazer, jacket or bomber, which instantly transforms “classic” into “cool”.

7. Tailored Waistcoats
Will the waistcoat be your must-have this autumn? While the response to it has been mixed, we can’t argue with the fact that it’s a gorgeous transitional piece that can look stylish or sporty. With or without a shirt, it’s the perfect complement to long, wide trousers and a jacket in the same color. Would you choose low shoes or high heels to go with the outfit?

8. Trench Coats That Turn Heads
For decades, trench coats have been a necessary element of every transitional wardrobe. With their bright, white or brown shades, they are easily combined with any piece from your wardrobe. This season we are particularly impressed by trench coats from Mugler, Proenza Schouler and The Row.

9. Loafers
Leather loafers have been our favorite autumn-spring piece for a while now. Every year, a number of variations appear on the catwalks; this season’s trend is loafers with exaggerated square silhouettes, as seen by Hermès, Roger Vivier, Ganni, Tod’s and other designers.

10. Big Bags
Micro and small handbags have been replaced by larger bags that can fit everything you need for a busy everyday life. Often seen on the catwalk with long wide trousers and a jacket, they are clearly this autumn’s most indispensable piece that can be worn in numerous ways.
