In May, fashion enthusiasts witnessed the launch of another iconic fashion landmark, Fendace. The collection, which is the result of a creative dialogue between pioneering designers of the fashion industry, namely Kim Jones, Silvia Venturini Fendi and Donatella Versace, celebrates the legacy of the Fendi and Versace fashion houses and creatively combines their signature symbols. Signature silhouettes, expert craftsmanship, FF patterns and iconic Medusa motifs are seamlessly combined in a stunning selection of ready-to-wear and accessories.
Fendi and Versace have once again joined forces and creative inspiration to create the Versace by Fendi – Versace through the eyes of Kim Jones – and Fendi by Versace – Fendi through the eyes of Donatella Versace collections. The swap of creative directors between Kim Jones and Donatella Versace was a sign of friendship and a celebration of the cultural influence of both brands. The fusion of distinctive style codes has resulted in a superb range of clothing and accessories, with an emphasis on the shared Fendace logo.
“Kim is a visionary designer and innovator. For me, Fendace will always mean love,” says Donatella Versace.
“It’s a swap rather than a collaboration and, most of all, it is done out of friendship,” says Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Fendi Couture and Womenswear. “It is the beauty of togetherness after time apart and a celebration of women who have inspired me so much.”
Think of the Versace necklace and the jellyfish motif on Fendi’s nano baguette handbag and the sleek Fendi dresses sewn with Versace safety pins. The two collections, which have been presented worldwide and at numerous showcases, are now also available in the online stores of both brands.
