The New-Season Pieces At The Top Of Our Wish List

As the cold winter months pass and spring slowly approaches, we’re feeling the urge to get our winter wardrobe out of our closets as soon as possible and replace it with brighter, more colorful and more playful pieces. The Spring-Summer 2022 collections are full of boldness, colors and inspiration. Pieces characterised by quality tailoring dominate, replacing the relaxed sweatpants and oversized jumpers typical of the pandemic era. We’ve reviewed the collections of our favourite fashion houses and put together an edit of pieces that get the pulse racing.
Yves Saint Laurent
Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent was a French fashion designer who, in 1962, founded his eponymous fashion label. He approached his aesthetic from a different perspective by helping women find confidence by looking both comfortable and elegant at the same time. Today Saint Laurent markets a range of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear products, leather goods, shoes and jewelry.
This year’s women’s spring collection, called #YSL44 and designed by Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello, impressed us most with its signature monochromatic styling, elegance and impeccable tailoring. The clothes are accentuated by large and noticeable pieces of jewelry, which give the elegant black a playful touch. As predicted, platform shoes are returning to our shelves, while tops with asymmetric cut-outs, trench coats, mesh, feathers and crystallized accessories in the form of tops, dresses, bustier tops and footwear remain a big trend.

Fendi
Fendi is an Italian luxury fashion house, founded in 1925 in Rome by Adele and Edoardo Fendi. The opening of the first boutique, a handbag shop and fur workshop, gained immediate success. Its iconic »double F« logo that stands for »Fun Furs« was designed by Karl Lagerfeld, who in 1965 took place as a creative director of the luxury label (he was also the one who launched Fendi’s first women’s ready-to-wear collection in 1977). Today his legacy is continued by Kim Jones, In September 2020, his legacy continued by Kim Jones, who in 2020 appointed as Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear.
With its ready-to-wear collection, Fendi will dress us in animal-striped knits, wide-leg trousers, structured jackets, velvet and pieces with the well-known Fendi monogram, all in brick, black, white, blue, camel and grey color. Skirts, shorts and wide-cut trousers continue to follow the high-waisted trend, counterbalanced by cropped tops, pullovers, cardigans, jackets and shirts. The entire collection is based on time-honored techniques, combined with modern craftsmanship, while its lines combine classic images of the past and futuristic futures.

Alexander McQueen
Lee Alexander McQueen was an English fashion designer and couturier. He founded his own Alexander McQueen label in 1992. McQueen had a background in tailoring before he studied fashion and embarked on a career as a designer. The house’s early collections developed its reputation for controversy and shock tactics (earning the title “l’enfant terrible” and “the hooligan of English fashion”), while his catwalk shows were noted for their drama and theatricality. Among his best-known designs are the skull scarf and armadillo shoes.
Alexander McQueen and Sarah Burton as Creative Director impress again this year. The fashion house stays true to its roots and classic designs that amaze. Strong lines, quality tailoring, the signature skull symbol, silver nets, cut-outs, silver zippers and voluminous accessories make the pieces of this brand completely unique. The typical black and white spectrum is in this year’s spring-summer collection joined by pastel colors, especially pink. We’re in love, are you?

Valentino
Valentino S.p.A. is an Italian luxury fashion house founded in 1960 by Valentino Garavani. The revered fashion designer, known for his glamorous designs, grew up in Voghera, Italy, and studied in Paris, where he honed his haute couture knowledge. In his first collection there was a dress in the color of poppies and this would later become known as “Valentino red”. The luxury fashion house has an interesting history of renowned creative directors, among all also current Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Valentino under the direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli continues its journey into this year with a familiar spectrum of colors that calls out for spring, joy, love and inspiration! Skirts and trouser skirts, structured blazers, tops and matchy cropped jackets appear in pink, yellow, green, red and purple. Many pieces are in timeless tweed, accompanied by feather details. The fashion house has also added a platform to its footwear for this season, while larger pieces of jewelry and other accessories remain gold. Stunning!
